Pitless Electronic Weighbridge

Pitless Electronic Weighbridge
Electronic truck scale

Pitless electronic weighbridges are suitable where enough approach space is available and maintenance access is important. The platform is visible above ground level, vehicle movement is from the front and back, and the structure is easier to inspect because the system is surface mounted.

Key features

  • Side support beam structure
  • Above-ground platform for easier maintenance
  • Modular, high-strength platform designed for concentrated loads
  • Capacity range from 5 MT to 200 MT
  • Suitable for factories, sugar mills, logistics yards, and public weighbridges

How to choose

Choose pitless when the site has enough straight approach length and the customer wants faster access to load cells, junction boxes, and platform components during service visits. For sugar mills and logistics yards, pitless layouts are often easier to maintain during high-traffic seasons because technicians do not need to work inside a pit.

How a pitless weighbridge works

The steel platform rests on load cells mounted on a raised foundation above ground level. Approach ramps at both ends let trucks drive on from the front and off the back. As a vehicle stops on the deck, the load cells convert the load into an electrical signal that the digital indicator reads out as weight and passes on to a printer, remote display, or weighment software.

Site and installation requirements

Pitless suits sites with room for a straight run-up. Because everything sits above ground, technicians can inspect load cells, junction boxes, and mounts without entering a pit.

  • Straight approach length at the front and back
  • Raised RCC or steel foundation, designed for site soil
  • Surface drainage to keep load cells dry
  • Ramps supplied to match platform height

Pitless vs pit-type — which to choose

Both weigh to the same accuracy; the difference is the civil layout. Choose pitless when you have approach space and want easy above-ground maintenance. Choose pit-type when yard space is tight or trucks must approach from the sides, since its deck sits flush with the ground.

Where it's used

  • Sugar mill cane truck weighing
  • Industrial dispatch and receiving
  • Mining and cement vehicle weighing
  • High-traffic public weighbridge sites

Pitless vs pit type, side by side

Accuracy is identical — both use the same load cells and indicator. The decision comes down to how much yard length you can give up, which directions trucks arrive from, and the civil work you are willing to build.

Send the details below and our engineers reply with the recommended platform size, capacity, load-cell count and a costed quotation — not a generic price list.

What helps us quote accurately

  • Maximum gross weight crossing the weighbridge
  • Longest vehicle you need to weigh, end to end
  • Site location and available yard space
  • Whether you need weighment software, ERP linkage or automation
  • Whether the weighbridge will be used for trade, which requires stamping

Frequently asked questions

What capacity does a pitless weighbridge come in?

Vepro pitless weighbridges are available from 5 MT to 200 MT, in standard platform sizes or built to your specification.

How much approach space does it need?

Trucks enter from the front and leave from the back, so plan for a straight approach run at both ends. The exact length depends on your vehicles and site layout.

Is a pitless weighbridge easier to maintain than pit-type?

Yes. All load cells, junction boxes, and mounts sit above ground, so technicians can service them without working inside a pit — useful during high-traffic seasons.

Do you help with the foundation?

Yes. Vepro specifies the correct foundation for your soil condition and application, and supplies ramps matched to the platform height.

Not sure which weighbridge fits your site?

Tell us your capacity, vehicles, and site layout — our team will recommend the right system, platform size, and automation.
